Key traits
- A major eastern sea of Northland, between the Inarin Chillmeadow to the north and Baramma to the south; one of the map's major open waters.
Dho Gin Bur, the old charts write, and the plain tongue translates exactly: the Pale Deep. Off the north-eastern coast the seafloor falls away into water that turns a blind milky jade over the abyss, pale where every other deep is dark. No one has given the paleness a cause that survives a second voyage. Fishing crews work its rim and call the colour the lid, and do not fish the middle, not because anything has happened there, but because it looks like a place where something intends to.
