Cragback

Cragback

The Cragback is a heavily armoured lowland grazer built like a living boulder, its back a broken wall of plates and old scars. It wallows through swamp lowlands and boggy terrain with the slow, unstoppable certainty of a rising flood. Predators that snap at its flanks are largely ignored; those foolish enough to provoke it discover that when the mud flies, bones splinter.

Key traits

  • Massive armoured plating across the back makes the Cragback nearly impervious to fang, claw, or conventional attack.
  • It feeds on the coarse vegetation of the swamp lowlands, plodding through bogs with patient, herbivorous persistence.
  • Its calm demeanour vanishes under genuine provocation, at which point the creature responds with explosive and devastating force.
  • No domestication has been documented; the Cragback is a fixture of swamp ecology rather than of settled life.
